He rushed her to the ceremonial grounds, the only place where she could shift without hurting anyone, even though it hadn’t been used in a century. If he couldn’t hold her, which he highly doubted, the symbols would. Her wolf was pissed, and his was rising fast in response.

The wildness was upon them both, but she needed to accept her wolf. Yes, they could be ferocious, but hers wasn’t because she was feral, but hindered. He hated to cage her, but it would ensure her safety.

What a shock to realize she was a full shifter and part of his species. He had a million questions, but Stevie came first. He’d kill whoever did this to her. The transition would give him some answers, but not all.

Dagen ran as fast as he could. His parents unlocked the cage and would be nearby if something went wrong but would remain out of sight. He wanted witnesses because if he was right, she was the Luna Alpha.

It changed nothing. The human woman bore his mark, but the wolf must be claimed this time. Stevie was his mate in this life, and the mother of his son. Their connection was unbreakable, even if he wanted to strangle her most of the time.

In a hurry, he deposited her on the ground and secured the gate behind him. She writhed and contorted in the beginnings of the transition, but when she faced him, he was stunned speechless.

He stared in shock as the brown contacts covering her eyes dissolved little by little, until her eyes shone an unearthly, divine, white-bluish color. “Bloody hell!” Dagen groaned beneath his breath and shifted. This was more than Luna Alpha.

She hit him with the force of a semi-truck, paws swiping, and sharp teeth bared in anger. Her actions placed him on the defensive, but he also had to establish dominance. She may be his mate, she may be the Luna Alpha, but he was still the Alpha of all, including her.

Caged too long, her wolf was ravenous. It wasn’t anger he detected, but frustration. How she controlled this beast was a mystery, but there was no stopping her now. She was out, and she was out for blood.

Her claws missed him by inches several times. His leg burned where she bit him, but it would heal. Two times she challenged him, but once she realized she couldn’t best him, the fight was over.

Her wolf sighed in defeat and transitioned to the woman. Wolf eyes roved along her moonlit human form, ensuring the beast surrendered. Dirt covered her creamy, curvy flesh, and sticks and leaves stuck in her hair, but she stirred his soul and brought pride to his wolf.

After shifting, Dagen gathered her in his arms. Exhaustion claimed her from the force of the shift and her wolf’s rage. His heart turned over when she cuddled into his chest, pressed her face to his flesh, inhaled his scent, and nuzzled him.

“Is she okay?” His mother gently asked from outside the cage. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Dagen didn’t glance away from the prize in his arms. “She’ll be fine. Is my room ready?”

“Are you sure she shouldn’t have her own? It might make her feel more comfortable.”

His lip lifted in a slight snarl. “She sleeps with me now and forever.”

His mother unlocked the gate from her side with a pensive expression. “Keep control, Dagen. I’m concerned about her.”

His wolf led the possessive rage. It almost drove him crazy the time he spent searching for Stevie, only to learn he fathered a child he never knew. Separation in any form wasn’t an option. “I’m sorry, and I understand your concerns, but she remains with me.”

His mother nodded and swung the cage door open. “Dad is waiting on the tarmac with the car.”

Dagen glanced at Stevie once more. Her eyes lifted before he crossed the entrance, and her wolf glared at him, simmering with anger behind his mate’s bright blue eyes.

“More?” he questioned her with one eyebrow arched. “I can go all damn night, Luna.”

She snarled and withdrew as fast as she had shown herself, but Dagen was well aware this wasn’t over.
